Electronic Toll Transponder Options

State Division of Motor Vehicles officials say sales have already been strong within the past year of supplying E-ZPass tags in DMV offices.

“We are constantly searching for methods to improve the client service we deliver, and I’m glad that numerous New Yorkers located this to be a helpful choice at their local DMV offices,” mentioned DMV Executive Deputy Commissioner Terri Egan. “As the summer season travel season gets closer, I encourage our shoppers to take advantage of this service. Obtaining E-ZPass makes it substantially simpler and much more practical for travelers applying our roads, particularly as cashless tolling becomes much more prevalent.”

In April 2017, DMV began selling E-ZPass tags in all 27 state-operated DMV offices. In the first year, 34,807 E-ZPass tags have been sold at these locations. The DMV’s Coney Island workplace sold essentially the most transponders with 5,363 in a single year. The Bronx workplace had the second highest sales, selling 2,983 transponders.

As a part of the transition to cashless tolling, the New York Toll York State Thruway Authority and Metropolitan Transportation Authority are encouraging all motorists to sign up for E-ZPass NY and save on tolls across the state, which includes a five percent discount along the entire 570-mile state Thruway.
