Man On Drug Drive Charge After Fatal Crash


A man will face court accused of driving while drug-affected following a crash in northern NSW earlier this year in which a woman was killed.

The 23-year-old was behind the wheel of a Ford Laser which collided with a truck near Tenterfield on May 21.

Police say the car rolled on impact and a 59-year-old woman died at the scene.

The driver underwent mandatory testing following the accident after being treated by paramedics.

The truck driver, a 41-year-old woman, was not injured.

Following a four-month investigation, police arrested the Laser driver at Casino Police Station on Friday.

He has been charged with dangerous driving occasioning death, negligent driving occasioning death, driving under the influence of drugs, driving a vehicle with illicit drugs present in his blood, negligent driving and not giving way.

He has been granted conditional bail to appear in Casino Local Court on October 22.
