New York Toll Advice

The New York State Thruway has installed the final gantry scaffolding that spans the highway and exits - needed to switch the toll road over to a cashless system by the end on the year, in line with Gov. Andrew Cuomo.

Crews are now installing the final cameras and sensors which will study E-ZPass devices or license plates to make sure travelers are billed for use with the road. Within the finish, there are going to be a lot more than 2,000 cameras affixed to the gantries, in line with the Thruway authority.

The $355 million project will eliminate paper toll tickets and toll booths. As an alternative, motorists will drive under gantries with try these guys out needing to quit to pick up toll tickets or spend tolls, in line with the Thruway.

After the cashless system is turned on, it is not essential to have an E-ZPass account to use the Thruway. Autos with no E-ZPass tags may have their license plate image captured along with a toll bill mailed towards the registered owner.

But the state is encouraging individuals to sign up for E-ZPass, which works in many states.

The toll booths will be removed in phases after the cashless system goes on the net. Until then, cars will nevertheless must move slowly by means of the toll locations until the buildings come down.
